Interested in Adopting a Basset?EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 1, 2023 our Adoption Fees Will Increase. With the increase in veterinary cost we feel it is in the best interest of BRAT to raise our adoption fees. Basset Hounds, Beagles and Bassadors Before one of our dogs are adopted, the dog will be spayed/neutered, receive required and necessary vaccinations (rabies, distemper, parvo and bordatella) and be tested (and treated accordingly if positively tested) for heartworms. If necessary, the dog may also have a dental cleaning and/or a deworming. The dog will also be current on heartworm and flea prevention. The first step in the process is to complete an Adoption Application. Click here for the application. Upon receipt of your application, we take the following steps: 1. Call your vet(s) and landlord, if applicable, for reference checks. Please be sure to include their name(s) and phone number(s). Type in your name and date for the authorization release of information. Failure to do so will delay the processing time. We will verify with your vet(s) that your current dog(s) are up-to-date on annual vaccines - not just the rabies, have been spayed/neutered, have had annual heartworm tests, and on heartworm prevention. If not, that is an automatic denial. We'll do the following upon approval: 1. The foster coordinator will contact you to discuss dog(s) best suited for your situation. Thank you again for considering one of our adorable and lovable “babies.” Click here for the adoption application Below are some articles you should read if considering a basset. About Bassets
